When you update to Logos Mobile Version 53 you will see the largest user interface update in years and you might get lost. Where did everything go and what were they thinking?

We will explore the new interface on both iPhone and iPad. The Android version looks similar, as Logos prioritized a consistent experience across both mobile platforms. You will see slight differences between phone and tablet versions of Logos.

New Tabs on Logos Mobile App

On a smartphone, the new Logos Mobile App brings five tabs at the bottom of the screen. The tablet version adds two more tabs for Layouts and Store. The Layouts works like it did in the old version. Store takes you to a built-in book store.

You will see the following tabs along the bottom of your screen to help you navigate.

• Today replaces the old Dashboard and houses your Reading Plans, Quick Layouts, and other Dashboard items. Lots of Ads, just like the old Dashboard.
• Ask centralizes all the AI stuff and Search functions.
• Read Tab may not be called Read. It might look like the book covers of recent books you’ve read. Tap it once and it opens your last layout. Tap it again and it opens the Layout Interface you’re used to.
• Study Tab shows most of the tools you used to find in the More menu. They are presented in a better user interface, but will take some getting used to. It’s also nicely customizable.
• More Tab used to hold everything. They sent most of the More tools to other places and made it a Settings page instead. In fact, that’s probably what the Tab should be called.

On iPad there’s room for more buttons and many in the Logos Communities shared the idea of making it more customizable so you could put back things like a dedicated Layouts button. I could imagine adding the ability to hold Books in the Tabs bar, like the desktop app lets you do.

Reading Plans See Big Changes

The Reading Plans in Logos saw big changes in recent updates. That continues in Logos Version 53.

You’ll find most of the Reading Plan things behind the Today Tab. There’s a Reading Plans card near the top of the Today screen below the Ask box, where you can search and Ask questions with AI searches of your library.

Tap the Reading Plans buttons to do the following:

• + New creates new Reading Plans
• Today shows the Reading Plans with due dates today.
• Anytime shows Reading Plans without due dates.
• Manage your plans link at the bottom of the Reading Plans card lets you work with your Reading Plans.
  • You can also Explore curated plans offered by Logos.
  • Create new ones too.

Study Tab Houses Most Tools from More

In the Study Tab screen, you’ll find most what you used to look for in the More menu. Your will see across the top your preferred Bible and Recent books.

The Pinned section shows tasks you can perform. You can also Edit these cards with most of the tools the Logos Mobile App offers. I moved certain cards by dragging and dropping them. Then I added a few cards to the layout for Text Comparison and Draw on Screen.

Below the Pinned cards you will see a few more menus as follows:

If you can’t find something that you used see under More, look under Study. You’ll probably find it there. If you want to make it more prominent edit the cards at the top of the Study screen and Pin it there.

More Simplified Too Much

The More Tab has far less than it used to. In fact it might be too simple and needs a better name. Think of it more like a Settings menu. You can change things like your Citation settings, Translation settings, default Notebook and a few more. This also gives you access to your Logos account and shows your monthly AI Credits usage.

Ask Tab Puts AI In Prominent Place

Logos made a big bet on AI tools with the Study Assistant. Tap on Ask to see the search box. You also see suggested questions. This is also where you find recent search prompts.

Since I don’t use the AI features that much, I wish they had kept the old Library tab in the bottom navigation bar for quicker access to my books and documents faster. Move the Ask feature to the Study tab.

New Simple Mode Coming in Version 54

There’s a new default user interface coming in the next version of Logos Mobile App. Version 54 will default to a Simple Mode that removes some of the features to make it simpler for new uers. You will need to go to the More tab and turn off this mode to get back all the features and the user interface you now see in the current Version 53.
